I find myself thinking of Boudicca increasingly nowadays. When she lost the protection of her husband, on his death, the Romans flogged her and raped her daughters.

She led an uprising against them, initially to a great effect. She burnt down the City of London,. The men failed to defend their community, so it took a woman, protecting her daughters from rape, to mobilise the early English community against the rapist colonisers.

I’m reminded of her because in the protests outside the hotels and hospitals in Essex, the women have taken the lead. They will no longer a stand for the rape of their daughters. It is a rape that has been brought about, if not directly, then indirectly by the government, the local authorities and the police.

As things are today, the women have come out onto the streets bringing their men reluctantly with them, and for now, the protests are peaceful.

And it isn’t happening, only in Essex, of course.

It’s happening all across the country. The media are trying to hide the facts from the people, but the facts are that an army of Muslim men have been brought across the channel, escorted by lifeboats and the Navy, collected and then driven around by the government, housed at enormous expense in costly hotels and hostels whilst the English homeless lie unnoticed on the streets. All this might have passed without protest, except for the rape of the daughters. And even then, English only came out onto the streets to protest, because of the mothers; invoking the outrage and indomitable spirit of Bouddica.

Behind all, this lie political questions, but also theological questions.

The political questions are presented to us in terms of economics, demography, human rights, open borders, failing pensions, and multiculturalism.

The theological questions are presented to us with the pretence that they don’t matter, and should be ignored. If we are unable to give clear answer to the motivation lay behind the political dynamic, we are at least able to bring some clarity to the theological issues to avoid the liberal elite bamboozling us.

With eminent academics such as Professor David Betz of King’s College London warning that the United Kingdom is close to civil war, questions have to be asked about how and why this has happened.
