"People who really believe that the second person of the Trinity became incarnate and died for our sins and that the Holy Spirit has been inspiring the Church for centuries, are willing to take risks"
“Taking on the flavour of the world instead of being salt and light” Brilliant synthesis to a great conversation! There could be a whole toxic cookbook on the flavours of the world: tasteless yet seductive as the witches’ gingerbread house in Hansel and Gretel. Are we being fattened up for the pot yet simultaneously starved? Will Gretel push the witch into the oven at the last minute? Sorry for lapsing into fairytale/myth I’ve been dining on Jonathan Pageau’s menu (Brian’s fellow Canadian podcaster). Seems Catholics in Canada and England are experiencing similar cultural and metaphysical battles. Helps to know this. This has been one of your best discussions since I joined CU. Wide ranging without sacrificing depth, and sprinkled with humour, humility and evident love for Christ and His bride the church. Gratitude to three of you for your courageous work in Christ’s (virtual) vineyard. Ave Maria!
Ecumenism gone wild after Vatican II leading to universalism which in turn led to indifference. I’ve heard a few stories of protestants seeking to convert but being told by Catholic priests in the 70s and 80s there was no need to! Pope Francis, unfortunately, seemed to have this mindset.
Great show guys! (That includes you too Katherine!)
I would use the term "license" rather than liberal. Also, there is little progressive about it. People have sought to pursue their base desires for thousands of years and the results are not pretty.
