When I was teaching psychology in university, I developed an interest in group psychosis.
In 1518 in Strasbourg, between 50 and 400 people found themselves caught up in non-stop dancing which they couldn’t escape from. Some people were overcome by stress and died.
There were different explanations, varying from mass hysteria to demonic oppression. Bad as it was, it could’ve been so much worse if they had had the Internet!
The escalation of gender dysphoria from 0.01% of the population to epidemic proportions strikes me as being similar in some ways.
