Larry Chapp, ex-seminarian and renowned, retired professor of theology for 20 years
has written an excellent analysis of the papal comments in Singapore.
He commences by endeavouring to interpret the Pope’s remarks within their rightful context,
scrupulously resisting the allure of hyperbole, so as not to exacerbate the situation further
than it already stands:
"Before I proceed, however, a couple of caveats are in order. First, these remarks by
the pope are clearly not in any way definitive teachings of the papal magisterium.
Whilst I see great value in having a considered, dare I say well-reasoned, even scholastic approach to the ramblings of an educated mind, we are in great danger of failing into the pit of mindless and pointless wordage which contribute nothing to the debate. Let’s call the comments of Pope Francis in a clear and insightful way. They are just plainly wrong!! One does not need to go further.
As an American, Larry Chap analyzes with a particular 'American" mindset. For some years now, exacerbated by riots, BLM and the ever-burgeoning communities of Muslims due to the diaspora of Islam, Americans have either become silent or prevaricating to avoid further conflict. Is this the time for equivocality? Particularly concerning the Pope and the Catholic faith? At some point, the proverbial 'line in the sand' must be drawn and that time is now. The confusion created by those who claimed the "Spirit of Vatican II" and hijacked the beautiful doctrine of Vatican II has come to fruition with Pontificate, so now is the time for the 'line in the sand ' to be drawn.
As Dr. Chapp points out, this…
With all that’s happening in the church a new Amazon mass, gay blessings, cancelling of traditional mass, pachamama worship, all religions the same, God wills all religions, synodl church, recognising certain apparitions, confirmation of the age of Turin shroud, Eucharist miracles, incorrupt remains of possible Saints and the mess of our civilisation what’s next ? 📿🔥🙏
