Caritas in veritate

At Catholic Unscripted, we believe in plain speaking. In a world of jargon and spin, we aim to speak as the Church has always spoken—clearly, charitably, and without apology.

Expect regular written reflections that go beyond headlines and hashtags. Some are short meditations, others longer essays. Some are fiery, others quiet and contemplative. But all are rooted in the perennial teachings of the Church and the lived reality of faithful Catholics trying to make sense of modern life.

We write as we speak—with conviction and without pretence. You don’t need a theology degree to follow along (though if you have one, you'll still be fed). You just need a desire for truth, a love of beauty, and a bit of patience for our occasional soapboxes.

About us

Katherine Bennett was born and raised in a materially poor but spiritually rich family, living on the edge of a wood in a house built by her father who still lives there at almost 100 years old. She earned a B.A in Theology at St Mary’s Catholic University, London, an M.A in Political Philosophy and taught for a number of years in higher education. She has authored many articles for Catholic publications and spoken at conferences around the world, including at the Catholic Identity Conference. She expertly presents the case for a male only priesthood and offers a right understanding of the feminine. She also used to be a stand-up comedian, but now spends her time sitting down.

Dr Gavin Ashenden originally graduated from Law school intending to be a lawyer, but became instead an Episcopalian (Anglican) clergyman ordained in London in 1980, before being appointed personal chaplain to a dodgy German family in London. In 2019 he was received into the Catholic Church and has written for a number of Catholic and non-catholic publications. He is a regular face on British news channels and draws on his Anglican background to tackle the common protestant objections to Catholicism. He is creatively eccentric and will share the late Queen’s dying words with all paid members!

Mark Lambert studied theology at the Maryvale Institute where St. John Henry Cardinal Newman first lived after his conversion. He ran a popular and wide reaching Catholic blog for many years which found him the target of legal action from Cardinal Grech as he exposed corruption and sought to bring light in the dark years of the Francis pontificate. He has been involved in catechesis at a parish and diocesan level. Mark has contacts everywhere in the Catholic World–there is no escape!
